Collage: A Rebel Beat
To quote Tyler The Creator, my infatuation is translatin' to another form, oh wat you call it? NO, it's not love guys. It's digital collage, duh. I wanted to introduce you to some visual processing/obsessive collaging that is going on in my studio work right now since the last update you reaaally got was back with Meeting Your Match, Exhaustion.
The HMS Belfast has been a recent obsession of mine ever since it placed itself on my route home. Now. I love a boat. I love it even more if it throws some nice shapes in the sunset, so I've been focussing on this one for a while. This beast here is actually a WWII Royal Navy Warship, and OMG the colours on that. It's like a bloody Farrow & Ball paint sample palette (yum), and I don't just mean the extortionate pricing. I have finally got my act together and have bought a ticket to go on it.
As you flick through on whatever device you're holding, remember that my practice is essentially about touching and being. It's about how we may think about something, and how things are looked at. There's a strange relationship with scale. With reality. Zoom in, Zoom out. Double taping. Screenshot, repost, more-doubletapping, eye-squinting. And at this transitional point, these drawings are essentially a description of an experience.
